I disagree. I don't think it's a completely invalid test. There are results and there are setups that performed better than others. Just because it didn't turn out the way you expected doesn't mean it's a bad result...

Your perspective is broader than that of most other reviewers. Like you, I have been waiting for an FPV drone with three-axis gimbal. But I felt I couldn't wait forever so I jumped in with the Avada 2. Now I fear that the idiots in congress will 'brick' all our DJI drones soon. What a mess. Somebody needs to take them each out and let them fly some DJI drones...maybe then they would get some actual perspective. I did get a message from DJI recently saying that the "share flight logs with DJI" feature is going away. I am glad for this, because that is probably the only real data DJI collects, and it has been a voluntary thing. But people here don't know that they are sending all their flight logs to the Chinese Government- which all Chinese businesses have to do- share all data with the Government. So simply eliminating that choice (which they should have done long ago) should prove that DJI is willing to make the needed changes. Hope it is on too little too late. Thanks again for your great perspectives on FPV VS camera drones. Well done!

You can get a Mavic pro and the original white DJI Goggles for under 500 bucks. It does the head-tracking gimbal trick that makes you feel like you are doing something illegal. Every time I consider upgrading, I notice how uncommon these features are in their new units and just how expensive it would be to keep my favorite feature.

Okay, Just connected with me to ask about using the same controller and goggles with the Mini 4 Pro as it does have the 3-axis gimbals…what about that in the idea you says about head tracking? My 2 will be here on Monday, as I’m getting it to fly both the Avata 2 and the Mini 4 Pro as it supports both of them. Can’t wait!

What can huck 250 Grams and flies for more than 3 min at full throttle and be light and strong enough to survive a crash is really the only question I have. ;)

I love my avoda 1 it is one of the best tools I buy for my fpv drones. Iv used my avada 20 times to look for my drones iv crashed in trees head tracking is beautiful to use to hunt down your crashed drones :)

The Avata 2 is really a tremendous value for someone who wants to fly and not tinker and experiment. It offers a GoPro quality camera, the best transmission system, very good battery life, head tracking, an intuitive controller, excellent goggles, and some of DJIs special software sauce. It’s DJI so you need to be ok playing by their rules and restrictions though.

The guy in rotor riot was ripping in full manual in an old building through structure doing what I’ve seen in a few vids I’ve watched with fpv stuff , using controller 3 . Mine here on Monday and maybe one day I might waste some money to buy bunch of parts and try to put it together

Love the Avata 2 set, nice review! Some serious twitching going on with the head tracking ON at 7:50 onwards. Got the same happening on mine. Thought mine was broken out of the box until I saw yours do it too. Hoping for a firmware fix in the future.

Nice review! Tough doing long range these days since you need to keep the drone within line of sight.

Actually, the vibration modes of a drone leg are not much different from a wind mill power station. There are two ways to go: 1. fully stiff, meaning very high frequency rates but also higher weight and 2. flexible but within vibrational stress restraints. I wonder why DIY drones are made out of flat material, whereas in particular the main forces on the arms are perpendicular to that flat plane, where the flat plane is least strong and stiff. I would select tubular or oval arms, which even elegantly allow for routing the motor and other wires. Preferably the arms go uninterrupted diagonally from motor to motor so connection to the centerframe do not have to take up the stress. Just some ideas from my side.
